LeakSenze
Every patient who goes to a hospital, whether for a simple injury or surgery, gets an IV. It is the most common medical procedure, yet it has a hidden, high-frequency failure mode that nurses can’t watch minute by minute.
The statistics show that pediatric IV failures occur at a rate of 58%, and oncology infusion failuresare around 6%. These leakages allow fluid to escape into surrounding tissues where they do not belong. In the case of toxic chemotherapy agents, vasopressors and hyperosmolar fluids, these leakages cause tissue damage that can lead to necrosis.

How Does LeakSenze Help?
Once a leak occurs, it may take some time for nurses to check the IV or notice it, by which time complications may have arisen. This becomes challenging for hospitals and clinics, as nurses can only rely on hourly routine checks to monitor patients’ IVs.
To prevent complications and safeguard patients from undetected IV leaks, our team developed LeakSenze. Our software can detect and monitor IVs at all times. It is small and can be integrated into your hospital without a workflow change.
How Does LeakSenze Work?
1.
LeakSenze serves as an “IV watch.” It is a specialised IV Secure Patch (consumable) that is applied at the insertion site. The patch is embedded with strain sensors to detect early microscopic swelling associated with fluid infiltration.
3.
When the patch detects anomalous strain, the system instantly triggers wireless alarms directed to the Nurse Station or Mobile App for immediate clinical intervention.
2.
A Reusable Wireless Reader attaches magnetically to the patch and utilises carbon electrodes, ensuring full X-ray and CT compatibility without removal.
